Over a month ago, I was sitting at my study, crafting a story from a personal experience to post on LinkedIn. I had to get it uploaded by the day’s end.
I generously sprinkled in some useful insights, added a value-packed takeaway, and hit the publish button. And the post did OK with 250 likes, 42 comments, and 6 DMs that same day.
I slept peacefully that night, knowing I had contributed something of value. But I was peeved to find out that just 24 hours later, it was drowned out by various other posts from millions of other people on LinkedIn.
Hey, I’m not complaining about how many people posted on LinkedIn in 24 hours. It was just that I had spent so much time trying to polish that single post, only for it to vanish overnight into the feed like it never even existed.
Does this sound familiar to you? Whether you’re an entrepreneur, businessperson, or a recent graduate, you would’ve definitely experienced recurring periods of ‘content burnout,’ trying to post fresh content every day. But that’s completely alright; we’re human, not robots.
So, let me tell you what I did to stop feeling this way: I broke that one post into five unique and valuable pieces of content—without sounding like a broken record. It’s actually quite simple. In this blog, I’ll show you exactly how you can do it, too.
Remember that one anecdote or context you rushed through in just two lines? Turn it into a full post. Yes, you heard me right.
For Example:
Remember: People relate most to stories rather than summaries. Elaborate on the details, the mistakes, and the emotion.
Every post is unique and has a different moral or message to it. Now ask yourself this: “Can I question this belief?” OR “Can I tell the same insight from another perspective (client, team, mentor)?”
For Example:
Remember: Varying perspectives can keep your content fresh and human-like.
If your original post shares a ‘lesson,’ then your next one can share the ‘how.’
For Example:
Remember: Clear and specific instructions can turn your insights into impactful actions.
If someone reaches out to you through LinkedIn DMs or replies to you through the comments section of a post, use it as a response post. It doesn’t matter if it was a great question, a disagreement, or even an insight, because, congratulations, you’ve got a topic or hook for your next post.
For Example: “Someone asked me on last week’s post about how I learned to turn one single LinkedIn post into five—and here’s what I told them ….”
Remember: Audience engagement is content gold—use it wisely and creatively.
As humans living in an attention-deficit world, we tend to draw toward and process visuals much faster than a plain wall riddled with black words. So, if your post has statistics, lists, or even a short story, transform it into a carousel on LinkedIn.
For Example:
Remember: Repacking is not repetition; it’s retention.
If you’re serious about personal branding on LinkedIn, then forget viewing your post as a tweet.
Rather, think of it as a seed.
Plant it carefully and in the right way, and you’ll grow a week’s worth of meaningful, varied, and valuable content—without ever repeating yourself.
Because the fact is that your audience doesn’t remember everything you said, word-for-word, all the time. But they will remember how often you’ve shown up and how consistent you’ve been in sharing something worth reading.
So, what’s that one post you’ve already written that deserves a deeper look? Try breaking it down using these 5 ideas and watch your content multiply and gain your audience’s attention.
